Bolotov asking Putin to deploy peacekeepers in Luhansk region

1 min read

Leader of the self-proclaimed "Luhansk People's Republic" Valeriy Bolotov has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to deploy peacekeeping troops in the territory of the republic.

"At 0400 today the Ukrainian Armed Forces committed an act of aggression against civilians. The illegitimate Kyiv government is holding a punitive operation against the Luhansk republic. Its troops continue to occupy various regions of the country," Bolotov said in an appeal to Russia's leadership on Thursday.

He also said that the "Luhansk People's Republic" doesn't have enough forces to drive out the Ukrainian armed forces, so he expressed the hope that Russia will decide on deploying its peacekeeping troops before "a humanitarian catastrophe, artificially created by the Ukrainian leadership, starts in the region."
