Leader of the Third Ukrainian Republic civil initiative Yuriy Lutsenko has said that Ukrainian presidential candidate Petro Poroshenko offered the Batkivschyna party to work together in the new government after the presidential election.

"Petro Oleksiyovych [Poroshenko] offered Batkivschyna to agree on the premiership going to this powerful democratic political force. Unfortunately, the proposal that I personally conveyed was rejected," he told reporters in Uzhgorod on Thursday.

According to Lutsenko, "this was a wrong decision" by the Batkivschyna.

He stressed that the democratic forces should unite: It is necessary for the survival of the Ukrainian state."

Lutsenko also said that leaders of democratic forces must stop squabbling among themselves.
