Constitutional system, Ukraine's foreign policy cannot be discussed at four-party talks - Rada statement

Issues related to the constitutional and administrative-territorial system of Ukraine cannot be discussed at international negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the EU, the Verkhovna Rada has said in a statement.

"The subject of international negotiations cannot be issues related to the domestic jurisdiction of Ukraine, in particular, those related to the constitutional order and the administrative-territorial structure, determining the status and order of the use of languages in Ukraine, the timing and manner of holding presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine, as well as the right to individually determine the direction of its foreign policy and freedom of participation in international organizations and unions," the Ukrainian parliament said in a statement adopted at a meeting on Wednesday.

The Verkhovna Rada also drew the attention of the international community to artificial and contrived claims to Ukraine from external forces regarding violations of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine.

The parliament believes that these negotiations should be aimed at achieving the following objectives: resuming Ukraine's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders and ensuring Ukraine's sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
