The Ukrainian Defense Ministry is taking all necessary measures to release Ukrainian servicemen who were abducted by separatists in Krasny Luch (Luhansk region), the ministry's press service reported on Wednesday.

An officer and a contract soldier stopped on the road to eliminate failures in an official car. Extremists drove up to them, took them hostage and drove them to an unknown location.

"The Ukrainian Defense Ministry warns persons involved in this terrorist action that their actions fall under the qualification of a whole number of articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine," reads the statement.

The leadership of the Defense Ministry and the Ukrainian Armed Forces is currently taking the necessary measures for the speedy release of the abducted servicemen.

"These activities are carried out in close cooperation with the respective structural units of other law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, which are involved in carrying out anti-terrorist operations," the press service said.

"The leadership of the national defense agency is planning to respond toughly to such actions against servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who swore allegiance to the Ukrainian people and are faithfully performing their designated tasks," reads the report.
