Eight people injured in Sloviansk – officials

Officials in Sloviansk, a city in Ukraine's Donetsk region, said eight people were injured during the recent unrest and four of them sustained gunshot wounds.

"Medical aid was provide to eight people, including one victim who suffered carbon monoxide poisoning. The others sustained cranial injuries or gunshot wounds," Slavyansk health department head Yelena Dzhim told the city government on Tuesday.

She said the city clinics have a stock of medicines and are ready to provide aid to all in need of it.

She also said that clinics remain open until 4 p.m. and the ambulance service works round the clock.

Sloviansk Mayor Nelya Shtepa said that shots were fired at a car traveling from Kharkiv to Bryansk early on Tuesday, after the driver did not allow unidentified persons to search the car. The driver was severely wounded. He was hospitalized.

The government building remains occupied and the local government is working at the cultural and arts center, she said.
