Two injured in Kharkiv clashes

1 min read

A man and a woman from among pro-Ukrainian demonstrators were injured in clashes between pro-Russian and pro-Ukrainian activists in central Kharkiv on Monday.

Men wearing Russian victory ribbons, some of them masked and holding bats and sticks, spent more than an hour firing flares at demonstrators, an Interfax correspondent reported.

As a result, most of the pro-Ukrainian activists moved to Shevchenko park and others hid themselves in a cafe.

Police did not stop the pro-Russian activists, but formed a live shield when they tried to storm the cafe.

Finally, the men holding bats and sticks retreated to the regional administration headquarters.
