Ukraine mobilization plan 85% completed – official
Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (SNBO) Secretary Andriy Parubiy has announced that the country's military mobilization plan is nearly complete.
"According to the announced mobilization, to date 19,000 service members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been mobilized. The mobilization plan is 85% complete," Parubiy said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday.
On March 17 Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the decree by Ukraine's Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov on partial mobilization due to the situation in Crimea.
Partial mobilization is being carried out in all Ukrainian regions and in Kyiv. In Crimea and Sevastopol, mobilization was carried out among Ukrainians who voluntarily expressed their wish to be called up to the military service, including by showing up at army recruitment offices and military bases.
The decree sets the conditions for organizing the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian National Guard, other military formations, and the emergency rescue service of civil defense into readiness for wartime service.
