An initiative group called "For the Renaissance of Bogomolets National Medical University" has said pressure has been put on the commission that is checking the activity of Rector Vitaliy Moskalenko, who has been temporarily removed from office

"The day before yesterday we in fact suffered a raider attack – for half a day 12 persons of sporty appearance, professional provocateurs as well, were constantly attacking the rector's office, intimidating and pressuring the students," head of the committee on medicine lustration Vadym Aristov said at a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.

According to him, only people's self-defense units helped to stop these attacks.

Teaching fellow at the department of pathologic physiology at the National Medical University and co-chairman of the commission that checks university's activities, Oleksandr Khyzhniak, said that supporters of Moskalenko continually put pressure on the commission, its work is being sabotaged.

About 3,000 students and professors signed a letter calling for the resignation of the rector, fifth-year student of the university Volodymyr Motorny said.

Another fifth-year student, Yevhen Kryyevinysh, said that "the volume of corruption is so high in the university that you could have finished university gaining zero knowledge."

He said that both students, as well as professors, should root out corruption in the university.

The students have warned that they will announce an indefinite strike if Moskalenko isn't recommended to be dismissed from the post by the commission.
