Tymoshenko portraits being removed from Kyiv's Independence Square

Kyiv's Independent Square and part of Instytutska Street in the center of the city are adorned with flowers on Tuesday.

There are many people there, although it is a working day. Priests are saying prayers for the dead in front of the altars, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.

Portraits of ex-prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko are being removed.

A large poster showing Tymoshenko has been taken away from the Maidan Christmas tree and from under the stage.

Traffic is unobstructed between Arsenalna metro and the Verkhovna Rada along Hrushevsky Street. Concrete beams have been removed.

People are collecting litter in Mariyinsky Park.
