Kyiv metro to stay idle, traffic to restore after stabilization

The Kyiv metro will not open on Wednesday because of the persisting terror attack threat.

Traffic is suspended until further notice, until the Kyiv situation has stabilized, the Kyiv operative staff for sustainable living reported.

"The department of transport infrastructure requests city residents to abstain from using private vehicles, especially in the center of the capital city and the adjoining districts, and to plan their trips exclusively by ground passenger transport," says the staff notice posted on the Kyiv city state administration website.

Traffic of ground passenger transport has intensified on the orders of Kyiv city state administration head Volodymyr Makeyenko, the report noted. Additional vehicles have been assigned and additional routes have been opened from every metro station.

"Bearing in mind the situation in the city of Kyiv, I ask everyone to demonstrate understanding of the measures we have to take. Every action of ours aims to preserve the life and health of each citizen and to provide sustainable living in the city," Makeyenko said.
