The funding for the Ukrainian Defense Ministry in 2014 stands at UAH 15.6 billion, but the ministry's leadership hopes this figure will be increased.

"UAH 15.6 billion was allocated this year for the expenditures of the Defense Ministry," Acting Defense Minister Pavlo Lebedev said at a press conference on Monday.

He said that there was the position of the president regarding the need to increase this amount to implement current government programs in the defense sector.

Lebedev said that thus the ministry's budget would be adjusted in the first half of the year.

"Based on the respective position, I am sure that these funds will be allocated, and life will show how much [will be allocated]," he said.
