Batkivschyna faction members leave parliament session hall

Members of the Batkivschyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada left the parliament's session hall at around 16.30.

A 25-minute break which was announced by Parliamentary Speaker Volodymyr Rybak has now ended, but lawmakers of the opposition Batkivschyna faction together left the session hall, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent said.

Before that, all the factions held consultations on the bill on amnesty and a draft resolution on the establishment of a special commission to work out amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine.

Batkivschyna MPs left the hall to hold their faction meeting to discuss the proposed amnesty bill.

"The position of many MPs, including mine, is that in fact this bill, which is being offered is a bill on the dissolution of Maidan," MP Mykola Tomenko told reporters when leaving the hall.

"We believe that among independent MPs and representatives of the Party of Regions there will be enough votes to pass the amnesty bill, which contains no conditions to the participants of the protests. The fraction will now make its final decision and will continue to work".
