Twenty-six of 48 pro-European Union protesters who were detained on Monday for alleged rioting and participation in a violent attempt that day to seize control of the headquarters of Zaporizhia Regional Administration have been put under house arrest, the regional prosecutor's office said.

Another six were released after formal commitments to appear in court when summoned, the office told Interfax-Ukraine.

The office said there would be court hearings on Wednesday on what measures to take to ensure that the rest of the 48 suspects appear for their trials.
