Over 10,000 supporters of the Party of Regions gathered in the Mariyinsky Park outside the building of the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday and are holding a rally in support of President Viktor Yanukovych.

It was earlier reported that the rally is aimed at supporting the adoption by parliament of the state budget for 2014.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that supporters of the current authorities had occupied the area from the parliament's building to Arsenalna Square.

People are continuing to arrive, in particular, from the Arsenalna metro station.

Both young and retired people are participating in the rally.
