Kyiv to raise public transport fares from February 1 – acting Kyiv governor

Fares for public transport of Kyiv are most likely to rise from February 1, 2014, Acting Head of Kyiv City State Administration Anatoliy Holubchenko reported.

He said at the press conference on Tuesday that public hearings regarding this issue have been scheduled.

"After this the decision will be taken. Apparently, nobody will introduce [new fare] on January 25. If everything is good, then from February 1," Holubchenko said.

Besides, the draft order on increasing fares for the use of public transport was signed by ex-head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov, the acting Kyiv governor said.

"Oleksandr Popov took this decision, it is being discussed now. I haven't been considered this issue myself yet," he said.

As media earlier reported, the cost of one ticket in the Kyiv public transport will grow up to three hryvnias from January 25. However, the cost of monthly tickets will remain the same.
