Maidan people's union set up at popular assembly in Kyiv

The participants in a popular assembly in Kyiv on Sunday have decided to create the Maidan people's union.

Such a resolution was adopted by Ukrainians who gathered on Independence Square.

"Political parties, public organizations and Ukrainian citizens can join the composition of the Maidan's people's union," the first deputy head of the Batkivschyna Party, Oleksandr Turchynov, said.

He said that the union's council would consist of public figures and politicians.

He said that the council of the Maidan people's union includes Taras Boiko, Oleksiy Haran, Vasyl Hatsko, Ihor Zhdanov, Andriy Illienko, Irena Karpa, Serhiy Kvit, Viacheslav Kyrylenk, Ihor Koliushko, Vitali Klitschko, Ruslan Koshulynsky, Ivan Krulko, Ruslana Lyzhychko, Ihor Lutsenko, Yuriy Lutsenko, Maria Matios, Andriy Mokhnyk, Valeriy Patskan, Oleh Osukhovsky, Sashko Polozhynsky, Petro Poroshenko, Vitaliy Portnikov, Serhiy Rakhmaninov, Yehor Sobolev, Serhiy Sobolev, Oleksandr Sushko, Viktoria Siumar, Borys Tarasyuk, Yulia Tymoshenko, Oleksandr Turchynov, Oleh Tiahnybok, Valeriy Chaly, Refat Chubarov, Viktor Chumak, Zorian Shkiriak, Yelyzaveta Schepetylnykova, and Arseniy Yatseniuk.

Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk, UDAR Party leader Vitali Klitschko and Svoboda faction leader Oleh Tiahnybok became the co-heads of the council of the Maidan people's union.

In addition, President of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Serhiy Kvit, singer Ruslana and the leader of the Third Ukrainian Republic, Yuriy Lutsenko, became Maidan co-heads.
