Kyiv police order to free unlawfully seized public buildings

1 min read

The unauthorized seizure of administrative buildings is illegal and protesters should voluntarily leave the Kyiv city administration's building and the House of Trade Unions in Kyiv, the Kyiv police say.

"In the last few hours, law enforcement officers explain to protesters that the unauthorized seizure of an administrative building is illegal. That is, all citizens who are in the premises violate a number of criminal and administrative laws, and are subject to liability. Those who are in the premises now should voluntarily leave the public buildings and do not cause the aggravation of the situation," the Kyiv police said in a statement on Sunday.

"Should the legitimate demands not be satisfied, law enforcement officers will take appropriate measures to bring offenders out of the buildings," the police say.

According to the police, the public buildings have been occupied by "aggressive-minded representatives of the Svoboda party and individual protesters."
