Yanukovych: Molodist Film Festival means new names, new inspiration, new understanding of human existence

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has congratulated the participants, organizers and guests of the 43rd Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist on the commencement of the festival.

"This film festival has become an outstanding cultural event for Ukraine that brings together the acknowledged masters of world cinema, talented young people from around the world and fans of cinema, and helps young authors take important place in modern filmmaking. Together with Molodist we are discovering new names, new inspiration and new understanding of the human existence," the president said in a greeting published on his Web site.

The 43rd Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist kicks off on Saturday, October 19. At 1500, a photo exhibition of works Molodist's special guest Austrian director Ulrich Seidl will open at Mystetsky Arsenal. At 1700, the opening ceremony and the screening of "Walesa. Man of Hope" by Polish director Andrzej Wajda will start in the Ukraina Palace.

Ten films nominated for the 2014 Academy Awards (Oscar) will be showed during the festival, including "Borgman", a new film by Alex van Warmerdam (the Netherlands), Felix Van Groeningen's film "The Broken Circle Breakdown" (Belgium), Calin Peter Netzer's "Child's Pose" (Romania), and Georg Maas's "Two Lives" (Germany).

The locations of the festival will traditionally be Kyiv Cinema, Zhovten Cinema and Kyivan Rus Cinema.

The closing ceremony of the festival will take place at Kyivan Rus Cinema on October 26.
