Ukraine wants to ask Russia to accelerate the arrival of the inspectors of Rospotrebnadzor to check Ukrainian laboratories and companies, Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told reporters before a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

He said that Ukraine has transferred all of the required documents, using diplomatic channels and directly.

"On Monday, we'll hold a meeting of the governmental subcommission in Moscow, and the issue will be raised at the level of ministers. I believe that we've fulfilled all of our liabilities and met all the requirements. I'm sure that he [Rospotrebnadzor Head, Russia's chief sanitary doctor Gennady Onishchenko] should go and check… we'll also ask him to accelerate the checks for laboratories and companies," Prysiazhniuk said.

As reported, on October 8, 2013, Onishchenko said that Rospotrebnadzor said it has not resolved its issues with the Ukrainian confectionary producer Roshen and insists that its experts be allowed to inspect Roshen's production sites.

On July 29, the Russian biosecurity services banned the supply of products manufactured by the Roshen corporation, one of the largest manufacturers of confectionery products in Ukraine. Among the reasons for the ban were quality and safety concerns.

In mid-August, Onishchenko agreed with Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk in Moscow about the mechanism of Roshen's return onto the Russian market. In particular, four Ukrainian factories should have to be checked by Rospotrebnadzor inspectors. After the checks, the Ukrainian confectionery could be allowed onto the market but with per-batch control.

Moreover, the sides agreed that authorized laboratories in Ukraine should check Ukrainian products designed for export to Russia.

Roshen, a leading confectionary producer in Ukraine, operates confectionery factories in Kyiv, Mariupol, Kremenchuk and Vinnytsia, the dairy producer Bershadmoloko. It also runs confectionary facilities in Klaipeda (Lithuania), Lipetsk (Russia), and Bonbonetti Choco (Hungary).

The company produces around 200 types of products. Its total annual production volume is up to 410,000 tonnes.
