Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has described his Polish counterpart Bronislaw Komorowski's role in Ukraine's integration with the EU as "crucial."

"President Komorowski's role in these matters is crucial for Ukraine," Yanukovych said at a press conference in Krakow on Monday after a meeting with the Polish president.

Yanukovych stressed that during the meeting they had paid much attention to Ukraine's European integration course in the light of preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius.

The president added that he would continue discussing the same topic with German President Joachim Gauck and Italian President Giorgio Napolitano later on the same day. "I hope the discussion will be fruitful and useful," the Ukrainian president said.

He also praised the active political dialogue he has been holding with his Polish counterpart. According to Yanukovych, in 2010 he had 20 meetings and 20 phone conversations with Komorowski, and the Monday meeting was the tenth one held in Poland.
