The defender of former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko, the deputy chairman of the Batkivschyna party, Serhiy Vlasenko, is convinced that the opposition will not support the president's draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in part of strengthening the guarantees of judges' independence.

"I am confident that the opposition will not support it even at first reading," said Vlasenko.

He stressed that the opposition supported only the submission of the presidential bill to the Constitutional Court.

"The law was not voted for at first reading, only its sending to the Constitutional Court was voted for. We [the opposition] support all changes going to the Constitutional Court. Let the Donetsk Constitutional Court make its findings, and we will present our amendments to the Constitution regarding the creation of a truly independent judiciary in Ukraine," said Vlasenko.

He noted that the reforming of the judicial system, as well as the law on the prosecutor's office, refers to the requirements of the European Union, which Ukraine must fulfill by the Vilnius summit. However, according to Vlasenko, the bills proposed by the presidential administration "do not have any relation to European laws."
