Government to consider text of agreement with EU on September 18, says Azarov

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will consider the text of the Association Agreement with the European Union at a meeting on September 18, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

"At the government's meeting scheduled for September 18, we will consider the text of the Association Agreement with the European Union and then we will start domestic procedures for its signing," the premier said at a meeting with the European Parliament's observers - former Polish President Alexander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox.

Azarov added that Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski would be invited to the meeting.

The premier also expressed the hope that the visit of the EP mission would be successful and contribute to the implementation of the work Ukraine is carrying out in order to sign the Association Agreement.

In turn, Kwasniewski said both Ukraine and the EU would benefit from the signing of the agreement on the association and creation of a free trade area.

"I'm sure that the Association Agreement, including a free trade area, will help you and us, and we will have a good basis for the development of good neighborly and friendly relations with Russia," he said.
