Opposition supporters march on Independence Day under flags of Ukraine and EU

The opposition has held a ceremonial march to mark the 22nd anniversary of Ukraine's independence.

Opposition supporters unfolded two large flags - the state flag and the flag of the European Union.

The column was headed by the chairman of the Batkivschyna faction in parliament, Arseniy Yatseniuk, as well as Batkivschyna MPs Oleksandr Turchynov, Borys Tarasiuk, Viacheslav Kyrylenko, Vitaliy Yarema, Oleksandra Kuzhel, Oleksandr Abdulin, Olena Kondratiuk and Mykola Martynenko.

The participants in the march were chanting "Freedom to Yulia," "Down with the Gang," and "Ukraine above All!"

According to the organizers, the rally was attended by about 3,000 people.

Participants marched from Mykhailivska Square along Volodymyrska Street to the monuments to Mykhailo Hrushevsky and Taras Shevchenko, where they laid flowers.
