The Batkivschyna faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has demanded that Batkivschyna MP Anatoliy Hrytsenko resign as an MP, the press service of the Batkivschyna Party has reported.

"Such a decision was taken at a faction meeting on Monday after the discussion in the faction of Hrytsenko's actions, which contradict the agreement on non-competition between opposition parties and are a sign of his active participation in the information war of the authorities against the opposition," reads the statement.

The statement notes that none of the MPs present at a faction meeting voted against such a decision, four abstained and the rest supported the decision. However, Batkivschyna did not specify how many deputies were present at the faction meeting.

As reported, the Front for Change, the Reform and Order parties and several regional branches of the People's Movement of Ukraine joined the Batkivschyna Party at a congress on Saturday, June 15. Representatives of these parties have been members of the Batkivschyna faction in parliament since 2012.

At the same time, the leaders of the Civil Position, For Ukraine! parties and the European Party of Ukraine, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Viacheslav Kyrylenko and Mykola Katerynchuk, who are also members of the Batkivschyna faction, said that their parties would not join Batkivschyna.

Earlier, Hrytsenko said that Civil Position would not be part of the united opposition, because nobody in the party "expressed such a desire" and "nobody invited us there." At the same time, the politician said that he considered Batkivschyna to be the only party that can influence the authorities.

"There is no other opposition, and I'm afraid that there will be no powerful force until 2015 that will be able to remove this regime," he said.
