Chairman of the Committee on State Building and Local Government David Zhvania forecasts that if on Thursday the Ukrainian parliament adopts a law on repeat elections of members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the troubled constituencies, the elections will take place on August 25.

"If the bill is passed on Thursday, the election date will be August 25," he said at a meeting of the conciliatory council on Monday.

Zhvania explained that a working group that had prepared the bill proposed holding the elections 60 days after the law comes into force.

This plenary week (June 18-21), the Verkhovna Rada is to consider bills on repeat elections to Ukraine's parliament in five troubled single-seat constituencies where the 2012 election results were not established.
