Yatseniuk on withdrawal of MPs from Batkivschyna: Yanukovych money will not beat us

2 min read

Batkivschyna faction leader Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that MPs are leaving his faction because the pressure is exerted only on Batkivschyna, and he promised to fight to the last.

"They are currently attacking only us, and God forbid that they attack others," he said at a briefing on Friday, when asked by reporters why the deputies leave his faction.

He said that on Thursday, a number of Batkivschyna deputies made a statement that they are being pressurized.

"There is massive pressure, they are trying to buy up [MPs], and there is a struggle with the largest opposition faction," Yatseniuk said.

"But we will resist, and I won't give up. This is a personal greeting to [Ukrainian President] Viktor Yanukovych - his money will not beat us," he said.

Earlier, Viacheslav Kutovy and Volodymyr Kupchak announced they were leaving the Batkivschyna group in the legislature.

Kupchak, in explaining his departure from Batkivschyna, said the group had betrayed ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who had asked for an end to the Rise Up, Ukraine! campaign.

He also claimed that after he had voted in favor of a draft law on a financial recovery bank, a bill opposed by Batkivschyna, he had received threats of physical violence from Yatseniuk.
