Tymoshenko calls on opposition and government to simultaneously stop Rise Up, Ukraine! rally and anti-fascist movement

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said she believes that it is necessary to simultaneously stop the opposition's Rise Up, Ukraine! rally and anti-fascist activities initiated by the government and to decide on a joint action plan on the country's European aspirations.

"I'm asking the politicians of all camps, for the sake of our children and for the sake of preserving our nation, to hold a Ukrainian round table and adopt a declaration introducing a moratorium on the use of linguistic and historical antagonisms in political and electoral technologies and on public brutal aggression in inter-party and inter-personal relations... I would like this declaration to state the mutual termination of the Rise Up, Ukraine! rally and the so-called anti-fascist movement and determine a joint action plan on Ukraine's integration into the European Union," Tymoshenko said in a statement published on the Web site of the Batkivschyna Party on Wednesday.

She believes that all Ukrainian politicians and the public in general should immediately "move away from the brink of self-destruction and leave the sector of deadly civil turbulence."

"Instead of calmly and peacefully removing a group of incompetent people from the management of the country, 'anti-fascism' is used to make people hate and kill each other," Tymoshenko said.

She again asked the opposition and the government to initiate a public "round table of 'consent' and stop this dangerous scenario."

Tymoshenko also asked the opposition to focus on regular meetings with the public in all cities, towns and villages.

"Your contact with the people of Ukraine is the only recipe for change, for which it's now necessary to spend precious time," she said.
