Ex-minister: Putin's last meeting with Yanukovych an attempt to stop Ukraine's EU integration

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko has said that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yanukovych in Sochi is the last attempt of the Russian authorities to stop the European integration of Ukraine.

He said this live on Channel 5 on Monday.

"Officials in the Kremlin offices realized that Ukraine is going away. The Kremlin is losing its influence on Ukraine, and now the last unexpected, mysterious meeting [between Putin and Yanukovych] indicates that there are attempts to stop this process," Ohryzko said.

He said that the lack of information in the media about the meeting between the two presidents shows that no agreements had been reached.

"This happens when there is nothing to 'pour out.' So I think that there's just no result, and there's nothing to present," Ohryzko said.
