Unlikely that Ukraine to appeal ECHR's Tymoshenko judgment, says justice minister

Justice Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Lavrynovych has said that it is unlikely that Ukraine will appeal against the judgment issued by the European Court of Human Rights in response to a complaint from former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, as the only violation established by the ECHR has been already corrected with the adoption of the new code of criminal procedure.

"The only position, in which Ukraine was declared a violator – this is Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights [violation of rights during detention]. This position has been corrected when the new code of criminal procedure took effect," Lavrynovych said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
