MP Pashynsky: Bill on reform of Naftogaz a criminal scheme to steal whole industry

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has prepared a draft law to steal the country's oil and gas industry, Batkivschyna MP Serhiy Pashynsky has said.

"The point is that the bill doesn't even concern privatization. This is an opportunity for the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of [Premier] Mykola Azarov to manually plunder Naftogaz," he said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday, while commenting on the bill introducing amendments to some legislative acts to reform Naftogaz Ukrainy, which was registered on April 26.

The MP said the bill concerns the sale of the main gas pipelines and underground gas storage facilities, as well as such companies as Ukrgazvydobuvannia and Chornomornaftogaz.

"This is not a law. This is a criminal scheme that does not foresee any revenues to the state budget, as sale, rather than privatization, is envisaged there," he said.

"The faction will take a decision [on this bill] at its meeting. But we will do everything possible and impossible to prevent the realization of this villainous law... Of course, the opposition will do everything to prevent the adoption of this law, but it will be difficult to deal with this regime without mass public support," he added.

Pashynsky is the chairman of the subcommittee on the development of the industry and investment at the Verkhovna Rada committee on fuel and energy complex, nuclear policy and nuclear safety.
