Russian plane evacuating over 100 citizens of Russia, other CIS countries from Syria

A Russian Emergency Situations Ministry aircraft that delivered humanitarian aid to Syria on Tuesday is carrying over 100 citizens of Russia and other CIS countries wishing to leave Syria back to Moscow, Emergency Situations Ministry spokesperson Irina Rossius told journalists.

"An Il-62 plane left the Latakia airport at 1840 Moscow time and is carrying 103 people, among them 39 children, including nine infants," Rossius said.

The passengers include 76 Russians, 10 citizens of Ukraine, 6 Belarusians, 4 Kazakhs, 6 Moldovans, and one citizen of Uzbekistan, she said.
