Ukraine's Hetman Sahaidachny frigate will take part in NATO's counter-piracy Operation Ocean Shield, Head of Ukraine's Mission to NATO Ihor Dolhov has said.

"Our flagship is to take part in two operations - Ocean Shield and Atalanta (the counter-piracy operation of the EU) without returning to Ukrainian ports. Each operation actually takes three months from the ship's leaving port in September and returning at the end of the year (December)," Dolhov said at a press conference on the results of a meeting the Ukraine-NATO Commission in Brussels on Friday.

Participation in these operations costs Ukraine UAH 90 million, which includes the cost of repairs, crew training and aircraft maintenance.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Pavlo Lebedev for his part said that a total of 670 Ukrainian servicemen are taking part in ten peacekeeping operations in seven countries.
