Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to comment on situation with Razvozzhayev after studying this matter

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said it will comment on the statement by UN High Commissioner for Refugees concerning the disappearance of Russian opposition leader Leonid Razvozzhayev in Kyiv after it studies the relevant documents.

"We are currently carefully studying this issue. We will comment after we have come to a conclusion. Ukraine abides by its international obligations, and therefore our response must be well-grounded and solid, based on the documents that we have received," Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said at a briefing on Tuesday.

He said that the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry had not received any queries from Russia concerning this person.

Dykusarov said a search for foreigners on the territory of Ukraine was outside the Foreign Ministry's competence, and other agencies were in charge of border crossing issues.

As reported, the United Nations high commissioner for refugees said he was deeply troubled by the disappearance of Razvozzhayev in Kyiv.

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine (UNHCR) earlier said Razvozzhayev wanted to get refugee status in Ukraine, but disappeared on the day he was getting legal advice.
