Police open criminal case on hooliganism against Femen activists

The police have opened a criminal case on the sawing down of a cross in the center of Kyiv, no one has been arrested under the case.

Kyiv's main police office told Interfax-Ukraine that the case was opened under Part 2 of Article 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

"A criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 296. An investigation is underway. No one has been detained yet," the police said.

The management of Pechersky District Police Office and employees of special technical services came to the scene of the incident.

As reported, activists from the Femen movement cut down a cross in central Kyiv located near the International Center for Culture and Arts (Zhovtnevy Palace).

In such a way, they expressed support to the Russian Pussy Riot group.
