Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Pier Francesco Zazo has said that he sees concrete opportunities for the development of bilateral economic relations between the countries in many sectors, in particular agro-industry, renewable energy, transport and logistics.

“At the general level, I see concrete opportunities for the development of bilateral economic relations in many sectors: agro—industry, renewable energy, infrastructure, transport and logistics, mechanical engineering for the defense industry, space and consumer goods Made in Italy," the ambassador said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

According to him, Italy is interested in developing relations with Ukrainian railways and ports and would like to strengthen cooperation in the field of transport and logistics.

“For example, we cooperate with private foundations and, with the participation of the Italian government, we are working on the development of a logistics hub in Goronda, on the border with Hungary. We would like to strengthen the Pan-European Corridor No. 5, which connects northern Italy with Budapest and Kyiv, because we believe that it is the future. This is very important, especially given the gradual integration of Ukraine into the European Union,” Zazo said.

He also noted that the Italian export credit agency Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero (SACE) will allocate EUR 1.5 billion to support commercial and financial operations, in particular in the field of healthcare and infrastructure.

In addition, work is now being completed on an agreement between the Ministries of Health of Italy and Ukraine, which will strengthen bilateral cooperation, the diplomat added.
