NCEC issues Vodafone permission to use 10 mln mobile numbers with destination code 75
The National Commission for the State Regulation of Electronic Communications, Radiofrequency Spectrum and the Provision of Postal Services (NCEC) issued permission to the mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine to use the destination code 75 (+380 75), the regulator said on Wednesday.
"The Commission decided to issue PJSC VF Ukraine permission to use the destination code 75 for a mobile communication network with a subscriber capacity of 10 million non-geographic numbers for the provision of electronic communication services in Ukraine for a period of five years," the regulator said following its meeting on Wednesday.
The press service of the mobile operator company told Interfax-Ukraine that subscribers will have the opportunity to choose a number starting with 075 until the end of this year.
"Vodafone already has four destination codes: 050, 066, 095, and 099. The additional number resource significantly increases the choice of the desired combination of numbers for new and existing subscribers of the company," the company's press service reported.
Vodafone Ukraine reminded that customers have the opportunity to select a number using the "Select a number" page on the Vodafone website.
"The service allows not only selecting but also reserving the desired number that meets the necessary criteria: selection by mask, date, favorite numbers. The number selection service will also allow restoring deactivated numbers," the press service said.
In addition, Vodafone supports the initiative of Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation to reserve mobile numbers of deceased or missing defenders of Ukraine. The company decided not to use all deactivated numbers for two years without additional requests from users of such numbers. For sale in stores and on the website, only those numbers are used that have been deactivated for two years or more, the company said.
According to the application of VF Ukraine with a request to allocate the destination code 75, published on the Telegram channel of MZU - Mobile Communications of Ukraine, the company had already used 8.15 million numbers out of 10 million with the destination code 50. In addition, 8.044 million were used by numbers with the destination code 66, 8.1 million with the code 95 and 7.72 million with the code 99.
Previously, NCEC issued the largest Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar permission to use the destination code 77 (+380 77).
