Ukraine in 2022-2023 ensured additional growth of Poland's GDP by 1-3% annually, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

"In general, according to data from the National Bank of Ukraine, Credit Agricole, Deloitte, Oxford Economics, over these two years, Ukrainians and Ukraine contributed to Poland's GDP from 1% to 3% of annual growth," Shmyhal said at a press conference on Monday.

Shmyhal said that Poland received EUR2 billion from the European Investment Bank under an agreement to provide loans to Polish cities and regions that accept Ukrainian refugees.

“Poland received EUR600 million from the European Commission as part of the payment of EUR3.5 billion to EU member states to help those regions that support Ukrainian refugees,” the prime minister noted.

According to him, Ukrainian entrepreneurs working in Poland paid taxes and social security contributions to the Polish budget in the amount of EUR2.3 billion in 2022-2023.

“For comparison, Poland spent EUR1.1 billion on support and social assistance, education of Ukrainian refugees... Ukrainians who came to Poland paid in Polish stores EUR4 billion with their bank cards to Polish businesses... From the accounts of Ukrainian citizens, transfers were made to the Polish economy in the amount of EUR2.1 billion from February 24, 2022 to July 2023, of which EUR1.9 billion in retail chains,” Shmyhal said.

In addition, the prime minister emphasized that 48,400 individual companies were registered by Ukrainian citizens in Poland during two years of the full-scale war, and the owners of these companies also pay taxes to the budget.

He also recalled that 691,000 Ukrainians are employed in Poland and pay taxes in full.

“EUR749 million is the amount of contracts concluded by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine with Polish arms manufacturing companies. Some 43 contracts have been concluded and taxes will also be paid on them,” said the head of the government.

Shmyhal also said that Ukraine did not receive anything from the funds raised at two donor conferences that took place in Poland.

“According to our data, more than EUR10 billion were collected at the first conference and more than EUR6 billion at the second one. Ukraine received nothing from them. The funds were collected by Poland together with the European Commission to support Ukraine... We do not know the fate of these funds ", Shmyhal summed up.
