Housing commissioning in Ukraine grows by 3.8% in 2023

The commissioning of housing in Ukraine at the end of 2023 grew by 3.8% compared to 2022, to 7.381 million square meters, reported the State Statistics Service.

According to the report, 4.277 million square meters of housing were put into operation in cities in 2023, which is 10% lower than the previous year. In rural areas, 31.6% more housing was commissioned than in 2022 – 3.104 million square meters.

At the same time, 47.2% of the total housing volume was introduced in single-apartment buildings, 52.6% in buildings with two or more apartments, and 0.2% in dormitories.

In total, 89,200 apartments were put into operation last year, which is 3.5% less than in 2022. At the same time, 57,200 apartments were commissioned in cities, and 32,000 apartments in villages.

At the end of 2023, the most housing was commissioned in Kyiv region – 1.388 million square meters (18.8% of the total volume). However, compared to 2022, the figure decreased by 4.8%. Next comes Lviv region with 769,400 square meters (10.4%), exceeding the previous year's result by 6.8%; Vinnytsia with 658,500 square meters (8.9%), a rise of 62.8% compared with 2022; Ivano-Frankivsk with 526,000 square meters (7.1%), a rise of 6.6%, respectively.

In the city of Kyiv last year, 1.014 million square meters of housing were put into operation (13.7%), which is 11.6% higher than the result of 2022.

According to the State Statistics Service, the largest increase in the volume of housing commissioning in 2023 was recorded in Kharkiv region, where the figure increased five times compared to the previous year, to 260,600 square meters (3.5% of the total volume).

An increase in the volume of housing commissioning compared to the previous year was also recorded in Cherkasy (a rise of 78.4%, to 166,800 square meters), Donetsk (a rise of 52, to 5,500 square meters), Dnepropetrovsk (a rise of 29.2%, to 235,100 square meters), Sumy (+24.7%, to 52,300 square meters), Ternopil (a rise of 18.3%, to 216,600 square meters), Zakarpattia (a rise of 17.8%, to 364,200 square meters), Volyn (a rise of 15.2%, to 316,200 square meters), Zaporizhia (a rise of 12.4%, to 21,500 square meters) and Chernivtsi (a rise of 6.9%, to 235,700 square meters) regions. The remaining regions showed a decrease in the volume of completed housing.

The data are given taking into account housing commissioned in accordance with the temporary procedure for accepting into operation houses built without permission to carry out construction work, as well as without taking into account the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and parts of the territory where hostilities are/were ongoing, the State Statistics Service recalled.

As reported, at the end of 2022, the commissioning of housing in Ukraine fell by 37.8% compared to 2021, to 7.11 million square meters.
