Ukraine expects Poland to take steps towards lifting restrictions for Ukrainian farmers, producers – Shmyhal

Ukraine expects Poland to take steps to lift restrictions for Ukrainian farmers and producers, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

"As of today, the issue has been resolved, the border has been unblocked and joint work is giving results," Shmyhal said at a briefing with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Monday in Kyiv.

The Prime Minister noted that, for its part, Ukraine promised to do everything not to harm and to support Polish farmers and carriers.

"We expect that Poland will also take steps to lift restrictions for Ukrainian farmers and producers," Shmyhal added.

He also said that Ukraine had proposed a mechanism for verifying the export of agricultural products in accordance with the decision of the European Commission.

In turn, Tusk said that the suspension of the blockade at the border and the introduction of useful mechanisms for Polish carriers who return with empty trucks from Ukraine helped in resolving this issue.

According to him, Poland will evaluate the verification mechanisms proposed by Ukraine and find a solution that will suit the farmers of both countries.
