Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU) is implementing a set of measures to reduce the cost of operating the gas transportation system by several billion hryvnias per year.

This was announced by GTSOU General Director Dmytro Lyppa, summing up the interim results of the company's work in 2023 on Facebook on Thursday.

"From the point of view of the 'consumable' part, I can highlight several areas. Firstly, a focus on the efficient use of natural gas within the system. This includes fuel gas and technological costs. In 2023, we managed to reduce this figure by one third compared to 2022, and at current prices this is more than UAH 3 billion," the CEO wrote.

In addition, the set of measures includes the development of optimal operating modes for compressor stations, the introduction of mobile servicing of gas distribution stations (GDS), as well as a new procurement policy.

"For compressor stations [and we have more than 80 such shops], the key task for 2023 was to determine the optimal configuration of the system, according to which almost half of the compressor stations could be transferred to a special mode while minimizing the cost of their maintenance," Lyppa noted.

According to him, the savings potential in this direction is about UAH 1 billion per year.

GTSOU also, instead of stationary control of the gas distribution station with an on-site operator 24/7, introduces a mobile service mode, when a qualified team travels around several objects along the route during the week and provides high-quality technical maintenance of the equipment.

"We 'spied' on our Italian colleagues, but the system is working, by the end of the year we have 43 such teams and continue to add. A complete transition to such a model means several hundred million more hryvnias of savings per year," the CEO stated.

In addition, according to the results of 2023, GTSOU saved 7.3% of funds compared to the expected cost due to participation in bidding on the ProZorro platform.

"This is very material, because GTSOU purchases account for almost 1% of the trading volume on the platform," Lyppa emphasized.

In 2023, GTSOU paid UAH 10.6 billion in taxes (VAT and income tax) to the state budget.
