ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih allocates UAH 269 mln in 2023 to fight Russian aggression, for war victims

PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) in 2023 sent UAH 269 million to help in the fight against Russian aggression and for those affected by the war.

According to the press release, in 2023, priority areas of assistance were urgent large-scale infrastructure projects related to eliminating the consequences of terrorist attacks by the Russian aggressor and assistance to the Ukrainian defense forces and communities. In 2022, the main focus of the company’s social and charitable activities was on charitable assistance to war victims and support of the defense forces of Kryvy Rih.

In total, since the beginning of the war, ArcelorMittal and its Ukrainian enterprise have allocated more than UAH 650 million to help in the fight against Russian aggression and those affected by the war, the press release notes.

It is also indicated that after the destruction of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station dam in June 2023 by Russian terrorist aggressors, which caused a large-scale environmental and humanitarian disaster, there was a threat of a complete cessation of water supply to Kryvy Rih and the plant. Therefore, the enterprise, in close cooperation with the city authorities, completed two large-scale infrastructure projects in the shortest possible time: expanded the water intake canal of the Saksahan River in order to increase the capacity of transporting water from the Kresivske reservoir to the Pivdenne reservoir, and created “from scratch” in record time (20 days) a four-kilometer pipeline from the Inhulets River to this reservoir.

After the water supply was started, priority in restoring water supply was given to the city, and then to the plant to resume steel and rolled steel production.

In addition, the company provided more than 4,000 tonnes of construction materials and fuel, as well as electrical equipment to the Ukrainian defense forces.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Material assistance was also provided to the families of deceased plant workers, assistance to employees of the plant and subsidiaries whose housing was damaged by shelling by Russian aggressors.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.

ArcelorMittal owns the largest mining and metallurgical plant in Ukraine, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, and a number of small companies, in particular PJSC ArcelorMittal Beryslav.
