Roshen Confectionery Corporation has launched a project to create an ungulate exposition in Cherkasy Zoo with a budget of about UAH 50 million.

According to a press release of the corporation, this exposition will be formed from the animals of forest and forest-steppe climatic zones of Ukraine living in Cherkasy Zoo, among them are red deer, spotted deer, roe deer, fallow deer, and bison.

Within the framework of the exposition, a complete reconstruction of the enclosures with the change in the relief, configuration and increasing the area will be carried out in the territory of the zoo. The area of open enclosures will be 4,220 square meters, reservoirs some 322 square meters.

"The time when zoo visitors could watch animals only from one side through the metal fence has already gone. More and more zoos in the world are giving up individual cells that restrict the movement of animals. This project is in line with this trend. People come to watch animals, not interfering in their lives," the press release reads.

Roshen started the project to modernize Cherkasy Zoo in 2016 with the goal of creating comfortable living conditions for animals and making the zoo more accessible to visitors.

In April 2017, the zoo opened the exposition with predatory animals "Land of wolves and bears." The project budget was UAH 20.5 million.
