NBU deposit certificate rate declines to 15% per annum

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Wednesday placed 70-day deposit certificates for UAH 300 million, cutting the upper rate to 15% from 15.1% per annum set a week earlier.

According to the NBU, the central bank satisfied applications of 11 banks, while a week ago applications of six banks for the same sum were satisfied.

As reported, the NBU decided to resume placing three-month deposit certificates. The first tender after the latest held in February took place on September 13.

The resumption of the placement is linked to the fact that the Finance Ministry does not place three-month government domestic loan bonds, and the terms of deals on the interbank credit market does not exceed two weeks, which complicated the pricing of other tools, in particular currency forward deals.
