Youth Housing Construction Fund plans to get UAH 1 bln for affordable housing programs

The State Fund of Ukraine for the Promotion of Youth Housing Construction expects in 2018 to increase the number of families provided with affordable housing to 5,000, head of the fund Serhiy Komnatny has said.

"Our budget request to finance the program [providing citizens with affordable housing] next year is UAH 1 billion. This will allow us providing 5,000 families or about 15,000 citizens with housing," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to Komnatny, the government approved the corresponding draft resolution on September 20, 2017.

"When the Verkhovna Rada adopted the draft law on the national budget, it also approved the resolution, which instructed the Cabinet to decide on the feasibility of funding affordable housing programs," Komnatny said.

According to him, the draft resolution is now being considered by the Ministry of Finance.

According to the state fund, in the nine months of 2017 over 330 citizens of Ukraine have been provided with housing under the fund's programs, and by the end of the year the fund plans to provide another 100-120 families (approximately 300-360 citizens) with housing.
