Denaturized bioethanol production halted due to 'unfair' taxation

Production of denaturized bioethanol actually has been halted due to "unfair" taxation, the press service of state-owned enterprise Ukrspyrt has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"There is real market demand on denaturized bioethanol and supplements on its basis. Due to "unfair" tax burden compared to the countries of the European Union, Ukraine actually halted production of these products and its sale," the company said.

Ukrspyrt recalled that the Association Agreement with the EU envisages Ukraine's commitment to change taxation for bioethanol.

"We have designed proposals for settling the issue in legislation. In addition, alternative bills have been also registered in the Verkhovna Rada. We hope that our lawmakers would pay attention to his problem and pass the bills as top-priority bills," the company said.

As reported, Ukrspyrt is managed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, which drafted a bill on the privatization of the state company.

The total production capacity of Ukrspyrt exceeds 30 million decaliters per year. Its work is provided by 41 production sites.
