Adoption of new privatization law will allow to transparently sell about 1,000 state enterprises - Groysman

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman expects people's deputies in the coming weeks to support the draft law on privatization, which will allow to transparently sell about 1,000 state-owned enterprises.

"I count on the joint support of people's deputies and factions in the next two weeks. First of all, there is an opportunity to adopt the most important draft law on privatization," he wrote on Facebook.

According to the prime minister, most state enterprises in Ukraine are unprofitable: only in 2016 the loss of 89 of the 100 largest state enterprises amounted to UAH 9.5 billion.

"This means that three average wages of Ukrainians disappeared in the pockets of officials every minute," he said.

"The transparent sale procedure will allow transferring about 1,000 state enterprises to a more efficient owner. The strategic investor will be able to modernize production and create additional jobs," Groysman wrote.

In addition, the premier expects positive decision from the Verkhovna Rada on two more important bills: on prevention of corruption in public procurement and on strengthening antimonopoly legislation.
