Poroshenko signs bill exempting payments on GDP warrants from taxation

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has enacted a bill amending the Tax Code of Ukraine regarding taxation of income of nonresidents who invest in securities (No. 7052).

According to a Saturday posting on the website of the Ukrainian president, the bill specifies a list of transactions with government securities income from which received by nonresidents are exempted from taxation.

"This concerns income from government securities paid by the central executive power agency that provides for shaping and implementing the public financial policy," the press service said.

The bill takes effect the day following the day of its publication.

As reported, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada passed bill No. 7052 on September 7, 2017. A total of 236 lawmakers backed the document.

"This bill amends the Tax Code to clarify the taxation of income of nonresidents that may arise as a result of the active management of the public debt, in line with international practice," Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk said, speaking in the Verkhovna Rada.
