PrivatBank to hold international tender to select manager of Bukovel resort

The most interesting part of assets (one third) of the largest ski resort in Ukraine Bukovel (Ivano-Frankivsk region) has been transferred to the balance sheet of PrivatBank. The bank intends to lease these assets to the co-owners in the near term and then put them to an international tender, PrivatBank Board Chairman Oleksandr Shlapak has said.

"Now we are negotiating with the co-owner, as we have about a third of Bukovel in ownership to transfer it to operational lease. Nobody else can operate the complex," he described the current situation at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.

He said that there is an agreement that the co-owners gave their consent to this lease. Now they use these assets without any documents, which is violation of the law.

According to him, the board does not have the right to make a decision on the sale of this property, so only leasing relations with the company that is currently actually operating Bukovel can be discussed, and not financial leasing.

"In the future, we are talking about preparing a proposal and holding an international tender for the possible operation of the Bukovel complex, as our one third is the most interesting and valuable: we have all the lifts, hotels and other assets. I think this complex can be interesting for a lot of potential investors," Shlapak said.

Speaking about the terms, he said that this year the bank will not have time to hold this tender.

"We will prepare well and then we will hold the tender," the board chairman said.

Shlapak said that Bukovel was transferred to the bank's balance sheet as a mortgage for UAH 11 billion, but after the reassessment now it is UAH 5.35 billion.

He also said that the bank intends to sell other non-bank assets that are on its balance sheet.

"The bank does not need any non-bank assets, which are many, and they will certainly be sold," he said.
