Stockholm Arbitration Institute decision from May 31 doesn't mention any amount Naftogaz must pay Gazprom

There are no amounts NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy must pay Gazprom in the May 31 ruling by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), Naftogaz's press service has said.

"No amounts to be paid by Naftogaz to Gazprom, $1.7 billion or any other amount, are noted in the May 31 decision. It doesn't mention any figures regarding any debts between the parties. The ruling lays out the principles, according to which compensation for Naftogaz's prepayment must be paid retroactively, as well as the total amount of gas received, by not paid for by Naftogaz in full," the press service said.

Naftogaz said talks with Gazprom are currently ongoing. The press service said if no agreement is reached, the matter will be handled by the arbitration court.

"The Stockholm tribunal said Naftogaz and Gazprom should reach an agreement on the amount. The talks are in progress. If no agreement is reached, the tribunal will set the amount," Naftogaz said.

As earlier reported, Gazprom stated that the Stockholm tribunal ruled that Naftogaz owed Gazprom $1.7 billion.
