Statistics: Real wages in Ukraine 18% up in Feb 2017

Real wages in Ukraine in February 2017 compared to February 2016 increased by 18% and compared to January 2017 by 2.3%, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to the service, the average monthly nominal wage of full-time workers in February increased by 3.3% compared to January, while in annual terms it rose by 35.4% and amounted to UAH 6,209, whereas in January it was UAH 6,008, December UAH 6,475, and November UAH 5,406.

The largest growth of average wages in February compared with February 2016 was observed in Zakarpattia (50.9%), Volyn (49.9%), Ternopil (by 49.2%), Chernivtsi (47.5%), Kirovohrad (48.1%), Khmelnytsky (46.1%), Zhytomyr (47.4%), Poltava (46%), Ivano-Frankivsk (45.6%), Kherson (45.2%), Vinnytsia (44.4%), Sumy (42.7%), Kyiv (37.8%) regions and Kyiv city (24.7%).

The rise in wages in Donetsk and Luhansk regions (excluding the ATO zone) was 28.9% and 41.2% respectively.

The highest level of wages last month was recorded in Kyiv at UAH 9,832, and the lowest in Ternopil region - UAH 4,790.

In February 2017, wages increased in the area of education by 62.7%, healthcare by 54.4%, administration and defense, obligatory social insurance by 51.5%, agriculture, forestry and fishing industry by 44.7%, public administrative and auxiliary servicing by 38.6%, construction by 35.5%, industry by 27.4%, wholesale and retail trade, vehicles repair by 30%, accommodation and catering by 36.1%, transport, warehouse companies and courier activities by 25.3%, real estate by 25.6%, IT and telecommunications by 13.5%, professional, scientific and technical activities by 29.2%, financial and insurance activities by 11.2% and arts, sports, entertainment and recreation by 27.8%.
